PLIOGRIP P-223 SUPERIOR/SPECIAL VINYL ESTER RESIN

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

PLIOGRIP P-223 is a further modified version of P-222 and therefore has properties more superior compared to those of P-222. An extra ordinary chemical resistance and mechanical properties are coupled with much higher HDT. Pliogrip P-223 is extremely effective in harsh chemical environments, especially chlorinated solvents. It is recommended for the manufacture of FRP components using filament winding, hand lay-up, centrifugal casting, bag Moulding or Pultrusion.

• SALIENT FEATURES

PLIOGRIP P-223 superior vinyl ester resin is designed to handle solvents and severely corrosive mixtures at higher temperatures. Since the unsaturation is terminal, carbon-carbon double bonds are extremely reactive and cure rapidly and consistently to give superior strength and creep resistance. The multifunctional epoxy novalac backbone in their molecular structure gives a highly cross linked structure on curing, which imparts superior oxidation, heat and solvent resistance; higher than that in Pliogrip P-222.

• AREAS OF APPLICATION

PLIOGRIP P-223, superior vinyl ester resin out performs P-222. Pliogrip P-223 shows corrosion resistance properties similar to Pliogrip P-222 but shows better chemical resistance to chlorinated solvents and performs much better at higher temperature since it has very high HDT value.

A Pliogrip P-223 resin is used as an economic alternative to exotic alloys. This resin is used in high temperature chlorination or caustic scrubbing and storage, in sulfonation processes, in industrial waste treatment facilities where solvents are present and in the solvent extraction processes, used in mining. Also it is used for hydrochloric acid transport, tank, truck and linings.

(The specimens for testing are cured for 24 hours at Room temperature followed by Post Curing for 4 hours at 80°C)

 POST CURING REQUIREMENTS:

Satisfactory laminates for many applications can be made by curing the laminate at ambient temperatures. However for achieving optimum properties the laminate should be post cured for a period of 4 hours at 80°C. The post curing is most effective when carried out immediately after the 24 hours ambient temperature cure.

 Storage & Handling :

Should be stored in closed containers in cool conditions away from direct Sunlight. Resins exposed to direct Sunlight may lead to premature gelation even in the absence of a Catalyst.   Shelf life of Resin @ 25°C. about 6 months from the date of manufacturing.

Most of our resin contain styrene monomer and are classified as highly flammable liquids. Working areas should be well ventilated since styrene has a threshold value of 1000ppm in normal working atmosphere  .It is also an eye skin irritant. Hence, Goggles and gloves are recommended while handling our Resins

 Caution:

Pliogrip Q 8013 MEKP should never be mixed with Pliogrip S 1021 Cobalt, as this would cause explosion. The Pliogrip S 1021 Cobalt should be blended into the resin first. The Pliogrip Q 8013 MEKP should be added just before use.
